We were just talking with Emmalyn about how when the angel came to Mary to tell her she would be carrying the Messiah Mary only asked how this would be and then said: So Be It. All the while realizing the many difficult challenges culturally this would present for her. I also want to be an obedient servant to the Lord and say So Be It when He directs me to a task and trust He will work out every detail.

Thanks for sharing this Cate. I know what it means to have a favorite holiday song. Every Thanksgiving, I love to sing “We Gather Together”, which is a Dutch hymn from the 1600’s that was apparently adopted by the Pilgrims before they came to New England. Our town holds its annual Thanksgiving Eve service in the oldest church in America (“Old Ship”), and it opens every year with the singing of this beloved hymn. Every year except THIS YEAR, that is. They decided to mix things up, and try a new hymn this year. URGH. I hope your Church sings “Breath of Heaven” this year, so that you are not left disappointed!
